Staff members have a combination of experiences in working with people and families who have been impacted by substance use issues, domestic violence, homelessness and mental health issues. Our goal is to help people access opportunities to maintain a healthy and stable lifestyle.
Our agency has over 20 years of accumulative knowledge and skills among all the staff. The organization provides evidence based, trauma informed care education, training, and guidance to families. CCRS believes that when people are better informed and equipped with knowledge, and have a supportive community, they are empowered and more successful in supporting themselves and their family.
Lisa Jacobs
Owner
Lisa Jacobs worked in Information Technology for more than 20 years and returned to college and obtained her Bachelor of Social Work in 2012 and in 2013 a Master of Science in Social Work at the University of Louisville Kent School of Social Work. As victim of childhood abuse and other childhood traumas, Lisa’s passion, commitment, and desire is to advocate for victims and families to through teaching and training that resiliency and recovery through adverse childhood experiences is possible.
Ms. Jacobs became a Kentucky Certified Social Worker in 2014 and an Indiana Licensed Social Worker in 2015. In 2015, she began working with families with families with Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) CHINS (Child in Need of Services) cases as a homebased therapist, case manager and therapeutic visitation supervisor. In recognizing gaps in services needed to better assist families with DCS cases, Community Care Resource Services was formed with a mission committed in providing evidence-based services, trauma informed care education and training, and guidance to families, caregivers, and children to empower the community.
Valorie Lasley
Domestic Violence Recovery Program Manager
Valorie Lasley is an abuse survivor. Valorie is a mother of 3 sons and seeing first- hand what living in violence can do to a child has led her to become an advocate for victims. Her passion to teach victims how to become empowered as their own advocates runs deep. She recognizes what strength she herself gained as a client of the Center for Women & Children after a 16-year period with an abuser. Now it is her desire to do that for other victims.
Ms. Lasley worked 22 years in Housing & Human Services for Louisville Metro government holding various positions. As a housing program manager and a social services manager, she was able to provide rental assistance for over 700 homeless and disabled families and individuals. She was also credited with creating a life skills program to teach those who were housed how to avoid becoming homeless again. Classes included parenting, budgeting, banking, and how to care for their home. Clients were also taught job search skills and referred to other agencies for services not available there.
After retiring from Louisville Metro, she went on to secure certifications in Women’s Empowerment, Women’s Issues & Diversity, Save Our Youth, and Professional Life Coach with an international training program, The Professional Woman Network. These certifications have been a powerful addition to her bachelor’s degree in Guidance &Counseling. More recently she has been studying and continues her studies with Victim Assistance Training Online provided by the Office for Victims of Crime Training and Technical Assistance Center.
