chins-Legal and Trauma Informed Care sessions

Participant receives a curriculum handbook and  binder .

• Any parent or caregiver who has an open child welfare case
• Any parent or caregiver of a child that is involved in a child welfare case whose child born with drug substances or fetal alcohol syndrome,  whose parent experienced domestic violence or was mother in an unhealthy  relationship during  pregnancy
• Any family who could benefit from learning about how risk factors and trauma negatively affects families.  

CHINS Legal Parent Education Session  -participants will learn the legal process, what to expect at each court  review,  DCS ‘s and service providers role in supporting the family. 

Introduction: ACE Study & Trauma  -participants will learn about the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE), how it is related to trauma and the long term effects.   

Trauma and Childhood Development (Birth-18 years old)  -participants will learn how trauma affects childhood development and the impacts of untreated trauma. 

Trauma & Behavior Management through Positive Experiences and Discipline  -participants will learn how the importance of relationship building, positive reinforcement and discipline techniques can assist in managing trauma and behaviors.
